which brand tire

I have a 2015 sprinter, 15 inch rims. The tires on there are Load Rating D. I'd like to go with an E rating. Goodyear Endurance tires were recommended and I'm not sure if there is anything out there that might be better as far as durability and wearability.

  • GY Endurance has a stellar record and has been out for over two years now.

    BTW they are US Made!!!

So far, they seem to be doing well. Going up in rating sure can't hurt, though I'd still run them no less than 70 psi. A load chart might say you can run lower, but often tire wear can be accelerated by doing so. Personally, I think there are some alternatives that are just as good, and considerably cheaper. FWIW, ST tires almost =never= wear out; they =age= out.

Bpounds mentions the Maxxis, which was the go-to tire for a long time, but they've seemed to have slipped the past few years. Many more reports of failures in the past 2-3 years and they're still only rated to 65 mph. While you may not want to go faster than that, a tire that's rated for a higher speed is pretty sure to be a better built one than one that's not.

  • In a 15" LRE, I'm running the Maxxis, headed into year 6, and I've been happy. Happy means, no issues at all with them. My only complaint is that they are hard to find in stock and slow to ship from the warehouse. I just had to replace one due to a nail too close to the edge, and it took over a week to get a tire shipped in.

That new tire will become my spare, because the other 3 are aging out and I should replace at the end of the upcoming season. I'm going to consider the Goodyear Endurance when the time comes.

I think those 2 are your best choices in a 15" ST. Pick one.
  • Main reasons for TT tire failure are under inflation, over loading and age. Not the manufacturer.
