Tire Brands?

Most of the trailer tires suck quite frankly. You may want to check at etrailer. They sell tires mounted on new wheels. I'm not sure if they are balanced or not.

You may also want to check boating supply places. When I bought my new boat 2 years ago I bought tires mounted on the rims I wanted from Overtons.

What size tire does the rockwood require? Many smaller trailers have 13" on. Posters always jump on with the advice to buy Mais or LT tires. Neither of which exist in 13 "

When I replaced my tires two summers ago, I did extensive research of all brands, and I ultimately chose these. These was not another 14" tire that had a load rating up to 2271 lbs and a 99 mph speed rating.

I could tell an immediate and significant improvement on the first trip. Trailer tracked better due to having a sidewall and was less squirmy on the road. They're hard to find, and kinda expensive, but if I was looking to replace them again today, I would sell a pint of blood just to have the $$ to get them.

I would check out light truck tires. Hankook tires are supposed to be among the few that can exceed 65 mph safely on a trailer.

Another vote for Maxxis tires. I had one set of Marathons a few years ago and I wouldn't buy them again. They started to have irregular wear a couple of years before they were due to be replaced and I replace trailer tires after 5 to 6 years.

We have a Teardrop trailer which is roughly the same weight. Rather than go with ST tires I bought Micheline passenger car tires which have a 1600 Lb load rating each, about the weight of the entire trailer.

Go to a local dealer you trust and ask. I agree that for your application load rating is more important than brand. Have them mounted on your rims. Goodyear, Maxxis, carlisle, any would probably fit your needs. Also agree to try to get some within a few months old, if possible.

For ST tires the only decent brand would be Maxxis. Although few tire places seem to stock Maxxis they can order them and have them within a few days, such as Discount Tire. Most others are no name brand china tires otherwise known as China Bombs due to their unreliability.

Some have said the newer Carlisle tires are quite good. However, Carlisle had a bad reputation in years prior and I'm one that experienced multiple blow outs with them.

For somewhat larger heavier trailers most tend to opt for LT tires as the selection of quality brand tires suitable for trailers is extensive.

Get Maxxis, and have them changed out. And pay attention to the build date. Never buy a tire more than a few months old. That "may" rule out tire already mounted to the rim. Good chance they have been stocked a long time.
