- ddschumanExplorerWe have had both. I personally like the setup we have now better (bed in slide) because of the full length bed, larger closet area and dresser drawers that our front to back layout did not offer. I do sometimes wish however, we would have chosen a unit with a larger bedroom slide that offered bedside table and king size bed (ours is a queen that is the width of the slide so no option to change). Being only vacationers though vs seasonals or full-timers, it is not that big of a deal. We have plenty if walk space on both sides of the bed. I will say though that I did like the big windows on both sides of bedroom with the front to back bed layout. The little windows right by our heads are not as appealing to me but the layout of space, I believe is better. No issue with noise or temp in either layout for us.
- jalichtyExplorerOur Jayco HT 26.5 RLS has a north/south queen bed with shirt closets on each side of the bed and a four door wardrobe slide. On the trips we take, usually a week to eight days, all of our daily clothes fit in the closets on the sides of the bed and we use the wardrobe closets for big coats and laundry. We are planning on taking a three-week trip here in a while and we'll see if that enough room. I suspect we will pack pretty light and plan on using the laundry room at one of the campgrounds we will be staying at. I very much like our set-up, but have never had a FW with an east-west bed on a slide. I do believe that what you get depends on your preferences, king bed, full width closet, etc. of something a little more compact that is still functional.
- Me_AgainExplorer IIIWe have camper king is a bedroom side and I would not want it any other way. We also have a walk thru bath or open bath! I also would not want it any other way, as the enclosed bath makes for a tight cave like bedroom area.
Chris - ericosmithExplorerTo me it's all about the windows. Gotta have them next to the bed.

We are in the market for fifth wheel there are 2 ways the bed is orientated. need advise on the advantages and disadvantages of both .Thanks
Anyone having issues with noise, temp, space for night stand, and over all comfort?
Had both.
Noise, not dependent on orientation, but manufacturer insulation.
Temp, see above.
Space for night stand, all depends on layout.
Comfort, in the bed not dependent, in getting around, try both, age, height and weight will have an impact. Totally personal decision. - MrVanExplorerWe have the front MBR with King Sized bed. Very happy with it there.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIWe love our Queen bed slide and 8' wide front closet. We keep the 5er loaded year round, so we can go at a moments notice.
So one added gain with the slide out bed is a chest of drawers usually located at the foot of the bed. - NapriaExplorerJust to throw a monkey wrench into the works, check out the front lounge fifth wheels with the bedroom in the back. Closet space is between front-to-back and side-to-side bed orientations, but the bedroom is overall generally more spacious in the Front Lounge models.
- gosheExplorerOur bed is front to back with a wardrobe slide and storage under the bed. Plenty of room for us on month long trips. It has a short queen bed which is okay for me as I am 6'2". It's a little difficult to access the under bed space but we have gotten used to it.
- vietvet66-67ExplorerGrand design has a model that has no front closet, but the slide has a wardrobe
that is a good size. May be above your $ range to spend as you don't say. It is a new stat up company, but getting good reviews...
