Who has a sun shade permanantly attached to awning

My awnings are TOO high to attach a shade and I can't tilt the front one down because of slide out (have 2). I have the Carefree electric scissor type. Anyone have the mesh shade that they just disconnect from the ground and roll up in the awning? I saw one with a short piece that attached to awning and rolled up and a second section that hooked after awning was open.
Any ideas???
Thanks

  • While in Florida last month, I looked at a neighbors that was a pretty nice set up.

It had about a 1 to 2-foot piece that rolled into the awning. It connected in the slot on the tube. Then, he had to tie an extension to that when unrolled. His had grommets and he strung the extension on every time.

I asked if a version was available with a zipper. That would be much easier and not much more bulk rolled under the cover.

I'm looking for the right one. Our awning is pretty much useless by being up so high. It shades the MH but doesn't throw much shade on the patio area.

The extension could also serve as a tie down.

I'm not going to worry about rolling up a foot or two with the rest of the awning. Now, the entire length of an extension might be a little too much.

The neighbor said his system has worked well, and he had traveled extensively up and down the East coast. He also said that using it as a tie down worked in very windy conditions. He got it from a local Florida company that came on site, measured and installed it right there.

I don't think they will come to WV to do mine, will they? I'm sure one can be mail ordered with some careful measuring.

Didn't get the name but there are a few companies in the net that do this.

Rolling it up temporarily is fine but I wouldn't do it for traveling. Bulges the awning fabric and more would be exposed to the on coming winds. Doesn't take much to rip an awning open while driving.

Thanks for the input. Hadn't thought that far ahead. 2 or more heads are definitely better than 1!

Is there a reason you can't lower the front section before you put the slide out, and attach the screen then? Then raise it, and THEN put the slide out?

I love the toyhauler, 2nd one I've had but they're sooooo tall. I'd need to carry an 8' ladder to even lower the awning, etc... Just trying to come up with a simpler option. I'm not in the best of shape so simpler is better.
