screened porch attached to awning

my wife really wants a screened-in porch area. We' seen them attached to your awning. How easy are they to attach? How do they seal to your awning and how well do they seal? Any recommendations on brands? (without breaking the travel fund!) Do they really do all she thinks it is going to do? We travel with a dog and would like this area to be somewhere we can sit with her as well and feel like we have some privacy as well. What happens when it rains...are you stuck with a wet canvas put away wet..is there a better brand for this?

  • 15 to 20 minutes - start to finish. Inside the screen is canvas that you can roll up or down depending on the weather. Kids love to "camp" out there in the summer. Blow up mattresses and you're good. This one I bought at Camping World...look for Patty-O-Room......Dennis
  • Ok, here's the deal. They are not exactly easy to setup but they are nice once they are setup. When it rains they will get wet and you will either have to wait until they dry or you'll have to pack them up and take it out later (within 48 hours) to dry them to prevent mold/mildew. They are nice though and yes, they come with more work and maintenance.
  • we really like ours. it slides in one of the slots. the awning legs came off trailer and go out vertical
the sides hang from the awning arms and wrap around the leg, and then zipper tp front piece. does not seal completely at top. about 4 inches on each top.
we have to be real careful in the wind, it can capture a lot.
look on you tube for video
  • We didn't have much luck with our attempt... ended up in a pile in the shed and sold at a garage sale after two uses.

    >Kind of a pain to set up - especially when moving often.
    >Not easy to take down in a HURRY if the wind comes up and we had to roll in the awning quickly.
    >Pain to store..especially when wet.

I'm not a fan of attaching anything to the awning. Consider a free standing screen room.
