Who tows with a '13 or newer Ram

My 2016 has 2 modes of exhaust brake. On is just that anytime you let off the throttle it applies the exhaust brake.

Auto mode is much cooler it acts like reverse cruise control. Lets say your going down a hill and you are going 60mph. Once you let off the throttle it sets the exhaust brake set point to maintain it. So if the truck hits 63mph it turns on the exhaust brake until it hits 57mph then shuts off. Rinse and repeat. It works great on steep mountain passes.

Try using cruise control. I use mine all the time on steep grades. I manually lock in the appropriate gear to hold the speed.

It really works well. If you speed up just touch the brakes n hit resume. I select the gear I would climb the hill in. Sometimes you need to set speed 5 mph slower than u want to descend. Bottom line experiment.

Go to Tractor Supply and buy a folding tire step. Best investment I've made in a LONG time.
