Because 2500's are restricted to a 10,000 lb GVWR, there is no need to provide springing that will accommodate a 12,000 lb GVWR, even though they use the same 11.5 in AAM rear diff, therefore they can take advantage of the better ride that coils offer.
The Ram 3500 dually as shown in my signature, when equipped with the Aisin AS69RC transmission, 385/900 Cummins and 4.10 axle ratios is even more of a different animal. It's rated for 14,000 GVWR (maximum for a Class 3 truck), 15,750 combined GAWRs, 9,750 rear axle GAWR, 39,100 GCWR and 30,050 trailer tow. It uses an 11.8" AAM rear axle with additional ring gear bolting and unique heat treating with a finned aluminum axle cover for heat dissipation.
In the case of the Ram, it's not accurate to say that the 2500, 3500 SRW and 3500 DRW are all basically the same truck.
