- M_R_E_ExplorerI figured it out. I found a test button on the bottom of the panel where the off/on switch is located. The test button cycles the ice maker, did it multiple times to dispel the water.
Thanks for the responses . - Gib3633ExplorerAt the other end of the water feed line there should be a water shut off valve. Shut that off and disconnect the line from the shut off valve there. Then get a helper to hold down the water and ice valve and pump out water and ice. Then if the helper holds the lever down you can blow the water through the system with air. Then my added thought is forget the ice maker exists and make real cubes the old fashion way with trays.
In Toronto you may recall Legionaires disease became a problem from bacteria in ice machines in hotels.
Personally I think it just happened to be a feature for household fridges more suitable to houses than RVS
My wife found Ice trays that make little polls of ice 1/2 inch round x 2 inches long which slip through the neck of water or pop bottles. Kind of neat if you're going out in the heat. - byronljExplorerI take my rig down to Lake Havasu before it freezes up here in the mountains. I guess you could say I use the Havasu air to keep mine from freezing.
Dave - racer4ExplorerThe water lines do NOT need to be taken apart to drain them.
The ice maker water valve can be turned on with a jumper wire to flush the water out until the pink RV antifreeze comes through or to blow it out with air.
Watch this video - Winterize with Greeneway-Interior , starting at 8:30, to see how.
You can also google: ice maker test points
to see pictures of the test points and servicing info. The third search result (for me) explains it better. Look about 90% of the way down for what test points to jump to energize the water valve.
By energizing (opening) the water valve, air (or antifreeze) can be sent through until the water lines and water valve are flushed out. - rskrbinaExplorerI blow out ALL hot and cold water lines first including low point drains. Then, with the refrigerator turned on, lower the ice maker arm in the freezer and let the ice maker cycle. Each time the solenoid opens, air will push the water completely out of the supply line. Set your air regulator to 40 psi and let the ice maker cycle a couple of times. To speed up the purging of the ice maker line, turn your refrigerator on 24 hours BEFORE putting air to it. I just let mine sit for a couple of hours with air against it and job is done. Works great.
- rbturnerExplorerI have always used anti-freeze in both the water dispenser and the ice maker.
- What if there is no access to the back of the fridge? Mine is on the slide , with a lip.. Do I really need to totally remove the entire fridge?
- sch911ExplorerI don't have an LG but for mine I take the lines off of the water solenoid and blow them out. The solenoid is located on the back lower area of most units.
