Winterizing

Taking my '18 Momentum 5er on a hunting trip for Thanksgiving. Is there anything I need to do for the cold temps or "Winterizing"?
  • If you are planning on winterizing the water system and still use the camper, then pick up a port-a-potty so you won't have to run water inside the camper. Bring along water in containers and store them inside the coach area so they don't freeze. Warm water on your stove top for washing dishes or taking a cat-bath. This also adds heat to your living area. Catch all your water in tubs and toss out the door, not down the drain as the water will freeze in the tanks.

Once you have access to a pit toilet, or a flushing toilet, dump your port-a-potty. Basically, you are using your camper without running water, just like you would use a tent, because tents don't have running water either.

Now, if your camper is a true 4 season unit and you don't mind blasting through a lot of propane to keep the underbelly of your camper heated, then you should have no problems with below freezing temperatures and keeping water from turning to ice and breaking plumbing lines and holding tanks.
  • Did you happen to glance at the weather prediction...say for Tuesday much less late November? A low of 25F. Your choice. Do you feel lucky?

    Where are you headed?

No need to winterize in our So Cal deserts.
