Won't ever buy a Keystone RV

We purchased a 2015 Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel model # 279RKSWE on Oct 28, 2014 from Camping World, LV, NV. Before we even loaded it, the automatic jacks didn't work. We were able to get those fixed in January 2015 by the company that made the jacks following days of work. The sensors were installed backwards. By the time we were ready to go across country, we already had problems with the awning that was mounted wrong and sat on the door when it was opened, many of the hinge screws on the cabinets were stripped and loose, the counter top was separated, and the living room chair was defective. A local Keystone dealer was able to get the chair fixed. Everything else "needed approval" which never came. By the time we headed back home, we had a leak around the bedroom vent which we were able to get fixed at a Camping World. We had fixed many of the hinges ourselves. Some other issues, namely a bubble in the roof near the front of the camper, and the counter under the TV was coming away from the wall and the monitor for the tanks never went to "empty". We returned the RV to Camping World in LV on Oct 16, 2015. Some of these items have been fixed according to Camping World. It is now Nov 30th and we still can't get the roof fixed despite many, many photos and telephone conversations. We purchased an extended warranty that was supposed to cover all of these issues. Even THAT won't fix the roof. We are VERY disappointed in the quality control and customer service at Keystone. We would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

  • We had one for only one 3 month trip. They are not made for that. It flexed cracked poped seams, cupbards fell partially off on and on, But on a positive note it did not leak. got rid of it right away, never again.
  • I have had 4 RVs over the last 20 years. My current RV is a 2013 Keystone Raptor. They all have required warranty repair work. But this Raptor during our last trip had a catastrophic frame falure. We were lucky that know one was killed. After over three months fighting with Keystone they repaired the frame and repaired the cross member welds that failed. But none of the damage caused by the frame failure. Which cost me over $5000.00 to repair to make the trailer road worthy. Keystone has the worst customer service I have seen.
  • You will have problems with any rv, the quality is just not there. Either learn how to do it yourself or find a capable mechanic to do it all for you. Your first mistake was to take possession of it before it was made completely ready for you. I have a Keystone 5er we have lived in for nearly 10 years. I am aware of most of the problems you speak of but I would buy another one tomorrow (if I could afford one).
  • I own a keystone that just came from the shop with repairs, the slide, monitor system, they replaced a holding tank that was cracked that I didn't know about which was found wile rewiring the monitoring system. We have been patient and didn't henpeck it apart. I think you will find problems with every rv because the quality control has went to the rats. We bought Coach Net 5 year extended warrant.I repair the things I know to repair. Not to mention the china bomb they trough on for tires when my year warrant runs out there getting changed.
  • So sorry to hear about all your troubles! When I was researching for our new 5th wheel purchase, I found a site that gave percentages of repairs for different brands. I'm sorry to say Keystone had a very high rate of repair - and not great customer satisfaction. Good luck - be tenacious!
