WVa flooding got my TH

Extensive flooding in WVa has us to where we can't get within 10 miles of our TH. We were in Beckley visiting my brother and we got word River was rising 2 to 3 feet an hour. We were 45 mins away from our camper and torrential downpours shut roads down to where we couldn't get to the TH to move it.. Long story short, don't even know if it's on our pad, or washed away... I KNOW it's under water to some extent... I called insurance comany and hope River drops low enough to be able to assess the damage and take pictures for insurance purposes. Rough night for the wife and I . We don't exactly know what to do... Oh, sons camper was also on our lot... Don't know it's condition either.

One never knows what is going to happen. Guess we're now without a camper...between me recouping from the stroke and wife from hip replacement.. This is just about a knock out blow... Don't know what we're going to do at this time.....

    I saw the flooding on the news this morning. Sorry to hear you were one of the victims. But, as you know, it could have been much worse.

    I know alot of us don't even have flood insurance. Just something that is rare when it happens...

    Good luck my friend...

    I know with us when things go like this there seems to always be a silver lining in it somehow... Keep up the good spirits...

    We are so sorry Jim and family. Stay calm and not make more health issues. Easy for me to said but last summer we had fire issues very close to our home but the wind changed at midnight.

    Don't worry about what you can't control. Wait until you can see your camper, then decide on the next step.

    Sorry to hear about this Jim. Hang in there and keeps us posted! Are your dogs with you or in the trailer?

    All is not completely lost... really! Worst case scenario, the camper is destroyed or completely gone. Here's an opportunity to start fresh all over again with a new camper when insurance settles. Actually, kind of exciting when you think about it!

    There again, your camper may have missed everything too. Keep a positive attitude and look for the best, no matter what the situation!

    (My neighbor at home keeps telling me he wishes a tornado would take the roof off his house so insurance would pay for a new roof! Now THATs positive thinking!)

    Jim, I was just thinking about sending you a pm to check on you. Bad things just keep on happening. We both know what stress can do to us so just try to keep calm and see where it go's.

    Where were you? My husband was telling me Summersville went up like 10 feet in under 9 hours. It is now so high it won't measure on the COE web site.

    Our thoughts are with everyone out there suffering through this. This one is going to take a while to clean up. But the latest is that 14 people have died in WV including 2 young children so we all have to keep it in perspective.

    Don't need a tornado a good hail storm will take care of it

    Dogs were with us, all are safe.... Our camp is in Pence Springs WVa.. Road in Alderson is under water , can't get to the camp that way and coming from Hinton, road blocked around Talcott.. All on Greenbriar River.

    We found out camper is still on its pad, my sons TT is up against it and water got 1/2 way up the doors, so water damage at the least... Hoping to get up there and get pics tomorrow.

    Hopefully we can salvage stuff we've been moving into the camper and still have this camper, or depending on damages, get another one.

    Last report, over a hundred homes destroyed and 14 dead... Power off to a LOT of people. No telling how many camper' destroyed.. 44 of 55 counties declared disaster areas by Govenor.
