I could ask you the same question, about the LT tires versus the OEM ST that came on your trailer. They have to ride stiffer too. But I bet you can't notice it.
Well we bought our trailer in June 2004 AND it came OEM with LT235/85R16E china bombs. In Feb 2005 Kenda gave me 550 bucks to remove them before they failed.
I installed XPS Ribs for 6.5 years and now am on R250's. 11 years on all steel HD commercial grade tires, and the running gear is still original(Springs, shackles, backing plates, hubs, wheels and bearings). Something like 70k miles.
Trailer is still in one piece. The frame issue that we had occurred to all that vintage trailers like ours. And Lippert's repair bulletin made in stronger than it was before the problem. I caught mine early before it got bad.
These trailer tires run cooler in SW hot weather than the TV tires. All steel ply rib tires have low rolling resistance and are very stable.
For everyone that plans to keep their trailer many years can benefit with these tires in handling and cost of ownership over the long run.
Plus the real big one, piece of mind while towing.
