**** Day Night Shades ***

We have been fulltiming for 4 years now and our day night shades are failing. The strings are broken in the back window and side. Having a fifth wheel that back window measures 73 in.
Do you just buy new ones? or do they restring them? We were thinking of just putting up a curtain rod with blackout material so the curtain is either open or closed. Thanks

Replaced ours with RV roller shades from MCD. Try www.mcdinnovations.com

I tried them and would not recommend MCDs anymore. Too much $$$ and the manual shades tend to be quirky.
. To each their own, but we think they are wonderful. Most info from users is positive but like anything, things can go wrong. We had too many problems with the typical day/night accordion shades - there are other options too, but just so your happy - we are.

  • From another thread posted this morning. May have some links that will help....
    blinds
  • I would restring them but I'm handy and have a "few extra minutes" available. A neighbor in FL ordered new Levolor Blinds from Lowe's that he really liked for blocking out the sun.
  • How to restring day/night shades........LINK

You can purchase 'restringing kits' OR do like some of us have done......restring using fishing line (braided dacron 60# test---works great)

As for that rear window shade........we removed it/hung a curtain rod and bought 4 panels of sun block curtains at Walmart.

Keeps the sun from baking you when siting in recliners
    Easy to open/close (one person)
    Looks nice
  • It is very easy to restring them. Get the material from "The blind man" and it comes with instructions. I just removed the blind and started disassembling it. Start at the bottom and look closely at how the strings run.
