55 Plus Resorts in Florida

I know this is off topic as it's not a 55+ park. But we have stayed at http://www.oro-orlando.com/ and really enjoyed it. Never had a bunch of children running around or monopolizing activities "seen but not heard" scenario.
Golf course on site (plus all the other usual stuff) and primarily 55+ people playing. Nice to get a golf cart and drive around and look at the homes with RV ports or covered RV pads. We really liked he set ups. Have fun.

Go to www.naturecoastlandingsrvresort.com. They are in Crystal River FL, which is north of Tampa. The lots are individually owned and rented through the owners. The lots listed for rent during the winter months are anywhere from $375.00 mo. to $500.00. All are plus elec.

For whatever reason, the Arcadia area seems to have several campgrounds but I'm not sure how many are 55+.

As noted by Nelson, you first need to decide what is important to you, primarily in terms of activities you desire and budget. Then look at the "mainstream vs. out of the way" locations.

The Avon Park, Sebring area other posters referenced, while not near a coast, offer an abundance of golf and freshwater fishing, along with reasonable shopping etc. Tampa, Orlando and either coast are an hour away.

Best advice we can offer is be flexible to start - - be willing to try several locations your first winter or two so you can find an area/park that is a best fit for you.

We stay at Adelaide Shores RV Resort in Avon Park FL. Lots to do, 1.5 hr from Tampa and 1hr from Orlando.

This place is a little out of the way from where you're looking, but absolutely the best place I've ever stayed.

It is a small campground, right on the Gulf of Mexico, and adult only.

Oh, plus they have a Tiki Bar where you can view the best sunsets ever.

We enjoy Sebring Grove RV Resort in Sebring, FL. Lot rent is reasonable, small park, and we have lots of fun folks. Check it out at:

Newer area no shade but paved nice spots. Older area more shade but park on grass. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Most RV parks in Florida have monthly or seasonal rates and you pay electric. If you want more reasonable price and don't need all the fancy resort amenities, we like Thousand Palms RV Resort near Wildwood and Inverness FL.
