Blue Sky RV Insurance

I'm looking for any full-timer who has Blue Sky RV Insurance. Has anyone ever filed a claim with them? If so, how would you rate their claim customer service. I recently requested a quote from them and it is half what we have been paying for National Interstate through Gilbert RV Insurance. Can't figure out how they can be that much lower. I just keep thinking I am missing something when looking at the coverage in the quote.

  • I just switched from GMAC to Blue Sky...GMAC more than doubled the annual premium when we bought our new Landmark. Yes it cost alot more, but an $876 increase...NOT!

Blue Sky just gave us considerably better coverage and lowered the premium from $1576 to $761 annually....we are happy campers!
  • We also moved to Blue Sky from Natl Interstate this past fall after a hefty increase in rates. We use an agent in Sioux Falls SD and they suggested looking at Blue Sky-they then got us a quote and it was significantly less.

No claims yet-but glad to hear the positives.
  • We just purchased a policy with Blue Sky in January. I posted the same question and got positive responses from others. We had been with National Interstate for over 6 years and the renewal price went up over 30%. We haven't had any claims but others had and it was handled professionally.
  • The claims number I have is answered as "Blue Sky Claims". I think the ID card provides the legal information which has to do with what company actually underwrites the policy. Since the date my policy was last renewed I had read on another RV forum that the underwriting company for Blue Sky had changed. It's possible that our two posts here reflect that change. All I know is that my interaction with Claims last month went well; I have no complaints.
  • So now I am wondering if you have two different companies listed on your Blue Sky Insurance Cards - do you both have the same number to call in case of a claim? i.e. are claims handled by the same company?
  • Your comment made me look at my Blue Sky ID card - it states RLI Insurance company - hmmmm
  • We have had Blue Sky through Poliseek for the past two years. During that period we have had one minor at-fault claim which was handled well. Recently, I was involved in a minor accident for which the other driver was responsible, but which I had reported to Blue Sky in case I needed their help in getting it resolved. Again, I was very pleased by the professionalism of the person I worked with.

I believe Blue Sky achieves its low rates by being the kind of insurance company that "bundles" policies and sells them to other re-insurers. This is pretty common in the insurance industry so it is not something that should cause concern. I'm not 100% sure of this, but my Blue Sky card says that my insurance is through Companion Casualty, which, itself, is an arm of Blue Cross South.

However, I don't really care who pays the bills as long as the Claims phone number is answered by a competent and polite person who gets the job done. In both cases in which I contacted Blue Sky that has been the case.
