cookware and dishes

I have a slight obsession with good cookware and dishes. I see lots of folks use Corelle in their RV, but I haven't seen comments on pots/pans and bowls. I plan to carry decent pans (I hate cheap ones), but wonder if anyone carries old fashioned Corning Ware and Pyrex Ware. I use my Corning an Pyrex almost every day and can't imagine cooking without it. Does anyone carry Corning/Pyrex and is there some special hints to keep it safe while traveling?

  • We use Corelle & Pyrex. We just use rolls of paper towel to keep things from rattling.
  • I like to keep things simple, so I have a stainless steel pan, an enamel clad steel soup pot, a small crockpot and a large one and my trusty iron skillet.
I don't bake anything, so don't need bakeware. I take along a casserole pan with lid and some large bowls when I'm going to need them.
  • I use an induction cooker so Pryex and Corningware won't work for me.
  • If Pyrex and, "decent pans," are what you like ....then that's what you should bring to cook in. Doesn't matter what anyone else uses or brings. Your RV, your meals, your rules.

Lots of ways to transport them so they don't get damaged.
  • If I am going to a rally where I'll need to bring potluck, I'll take the pyrex. I just put it in the oven. Never had a problem.

Because I usually camp with my rig, I have skipped buying a full set of pots and pans for it. Instead, I bought individual pieces that I actually use. Reduced my pots and pans by about 4 pieces that way.
  • We use metal non-stick baking pans for the little baking we do. Otherwise, a good non-stick skillet, a soup/pasta pot, the crock pot and a folding Presto electric skillet comprise our arsenal. There's not a thing my wife fixed in the stix 'n brix that she won't cook in the rig (and she's a world-class cook!) My concern with Corning/Pyrex would be the weight... it adds up quickly.

  • I have a couple pyrex baking pans. Just keep them packed safely among things like plastic bags and assorted towels.
