Finding Quality Maintenance

We are full timers and have been for about 3 years. One of the issues we run into is finding quality service in the many ah parts of the company we traveling in. Someone suggested we use Camping World as they have locations almost everywhere. What has been others experiences with Camping World service? Is there alternatives? Thanks

I will sound like a broken record to many on the forum. But when I went full-time I worried about service on my RV while traveling in areas I was not familiar with. UNTIL I found out about RV Mobile Repair.

Every CG has a RV mobile RV they know and trust. Just ask the owner of the CG for their number.

I have ALL my repairs done in CG's now. Major, minor and maintenance.
All from the ease of my camping site.

I find these repair guys have WAY more experience working on RV's than any RV shop tech that promptly checks out at 4:30 whether your RV is done or not.

RV mobile repair have 99% of any parts you need right on board their truck or back at their shop. What would most likely take a week to repair on your RV at a dealership takes 2 hours right at your site.

I just can't say enough good things about RV mobile Repair. Took all the worries out about RV'ing full time, repairs and maintenance, for me!
  • Each CW is different. I had nothing but bad experiences with the one in Albuquerque but others do a better job. I would look at online reviews for the service centers.
  • This is my first Stop!
    RV Service Reviews

Next stop is to try to do a search on this and other forums.

Also, as I read the experience others have with a facility/business, I will save the info for that company in favorites for the state where they are located.

I use as many resources and searches to find reviews before I trust anyone.

I recently needed and oil change in Washington, there is a company that has a great reputation. I scheduled an appointment through their website, never heard back from them. So, I changed the oil myself, as there wasn't another location I wanted to take the MH to for a simple oil change.

Several years ago, I made an appointment in personon for an oil change with CW in AL. They screwed up the appointment and when I arrived they gave me the 1,000 yard stare.. Lucky me. Found a workhorse dealer 50 miles down the road in our direction of travel that did the job for half the cost, and didn't even have to unhook the toad.

CW could sure be the answer for all RV'rs, but I don't have Any confidence and trust that I would get a good one. I won't lose sleep over locating a CW, sorry, but CW is not for me.

Recently needed to replace entry door hinges due to a slight accident. Stopped at another highly recommended company. It was obvious they weren't interested in helping fix the door. So, contacted Tiffin, the original hinges are no longer made. However, they had new replacement hinges, and after working with their tech and parts, it was 99% sure the newly designed hinges may work. They charged me dealer cost on 3 replacement hinges. Installed them in about an hour, perfect fit.

There isn't a 100% sure way to find a quality company, but it is a lot easier and odds are better now with all the internet sources.
  • The CW in Rogers (I see you are from MN) is excellent. Also Tom's Mobile RV is excellent - he will come to you. SEnd me a private message if you want Tom's #. He is very good. (Neither option is cheap but both solve my problems and that is what I care about).
  • I would question the campground owners/managers for their suggestions and keep an eye out in the campground for service trucks that might be responding to another RVers call.

In order to help you it would be useful to know what kind of rig you have.
Then you can be directed more appropriately.
But Camping World is not your answer. Some locations appear to be okay others are horrible.

IMHO: CW is a great place to retail shop and buy that new folding recliner lounger you've been wanting. As for their vehicle/RV service/maintenance? I personally wouldn't let'em work on my lawnmower. Many years ago, we were billed by CW for a new installed replacement hot water heater in our TT. Later down the road that same evening, we didn't still have hot water. Upon inspection, our water heater had not been replaced. The old inoperative water heater was still in our TT. We paid close to $500 for a new water heater while killing half a day waiting for installation...only to find later down the road we didn't get one. CW gave us a refund but that was the last time I've used CW service.

There are tons of horror stories here on the forum regarding CW service. CW now and then gets it right but after our personal experience I'll never got to CW for service...ever.

Alternatives are local RV stores and the like. This forum is a great place to find good local repair facilities. Before venturing to CW for RV service, I'd check here on the forum first for a local shop. Good luck.

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
