Florida, Texas, and S.D. are considered RV friendly for various and sundry reasons. However, you should review all your financial and health needs before deciding. I'm not an attorney, nor am I familiar with Mich. law. However, as long as you are full-time employed in the state, I would assume you are considered a resident.
If establishing residency in one of the friendly states, I'd probably establish my mail forwarding address about a month before heading out to full time. If you choose Fl for domicile, see
St. Brendan's Isle. They are an excellent mail forwarding service and can guide you thru the process of establishing domicile. In Florida, you'll need to appear for your DL, register vehicles, and pay your fees. There are no vehicle inspections to deal with. Then you'll need to set up banking, insrance, register with the Court of Records for Intent to Domicile ($10) and register to vote. Good luck.
