We are MI residents that are full-time and we were going to change residency to S Dakota. We have not been near there yet, but have been near FL 3 or 4 times so decided to change to FL. What I found out is that there is a first time registration fee for every vehicle which for us was around $1,000, then the licenses and tax. When I check on insurance I was amazed to find that quotes from 4 different companies in supposedly the cheapest county in FL are way more than I pay in MI and with much less coverage. The best for us was to stay MI residents until we get to S Dakota, so that's what we are doing for now.
