Military campgrounds are as diverse as any. Some are wonderful and some just okay. Some let you stay all winter, others have a two week limit. Some you need reservation and others you can just show up. Most have all the amenities and some are dry parking lots.
I've stayed at Twenty-nine Palms in CA, and March AFB, Fallon NAS, Pacific Beach WA (and live by JBLM, where there are 3 if you include Camp Murray.) Holloman and Laughlin years ago but they were both nice.
