Honestly the best state is CA. Very easy to establish residency (they even give licenses to individuals here illegally!) As long as you earn under $60k per year the state taxes are low plus vehicle registration is inexpensive. The state legislature is very progressive and constantly figuring out new ways to "help" you live better. We have been ft for several years and use a UPS store location as our address for everything. I hate health insurance companies but hate Obamacare even more. Our plans offer less coverage, higher deductibles, higher out of pockets for a lot more. Being said CA is one of the cheaper Obamacare states. Avoid TX, FL, & SD as neither has a state exchange and will likely lose premium assistance when the sc rules it down.
