You're probably not far off, considering your ages, recent and past pre-existing conditions, and length of trip. There are too many variables to say for sure, and who you're dealing with might be a major factor in determining a price for you.
Who are you with? That's probably the easiest fix, just change insurers/underwriters.
In the linked thread, there are some good suggestions/alternatives.
Bottom line: It costs what it costs to make sure you're completely covered, and traveling without it, could lead to catastrophic financial liabilities.

Have you tried "Googling" for coverage? Healthcare insurance in the USA costs just about twice as much as in Canada. Nothing is reasonable about health care costs and insurance in the U.S.

We use SnowbirdAdvisor Insurance, their insurance carrier is thru Manulife and they cover pre-existing conditions and cover up to 10 million $. We have used them for a couple of years now, we can still travel even with DW medical issues.

Snowbird Advisor wants $6500 for me alone.

They quoted me $272 for multi-trip, annual, 30 day max per trip. That's a bit higher than my bank's travel-med insurance. I can get 60 days per trip from them online for less than double that quote, same coverage, same answers to the medical questions. If I need more while away, they'll let me add days/weeks, providing I do another med q&a over the phone.

They won't quote me for 30-day multi-trip online.
