Health insurance

We used Costco this year (Manulife).

We use Johnson Insurance https://www1.johnson.ca/

We get a deal from them as we belong to the National Association of Federal Retirees. Don't know what their regular rates are but I think they would be worthwhile to check out.

We use Medipac which is associated with the Canadian Snowbird Association. I also checked Costco who was cheaper for me but not for DH. Medipac gave us the best deal for the both of us, if you consider >$5,500 a deal. One really has to shop around as rates seem to be going up sharply each year. It sure does not help when both re going into a new age group for next trip. Will have to consider shorter trips in the future. Welcome to the Golden Years!

Have had someone else suggest Travel Insurance Specialists which is underwritten by Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services.
I have not gotten a quote from them so don't really know if they are cheaper or not.

We have a friend who is an agent here in Montreal; she checks rates for us. This past winter Blue Cross happened to be the best for us but it has varied over the years.

ManulifeI would not use Manulife after watching this video. Be careful when getting insurance. My doctor recommended not filling out the medical questionnaire yourself but take it to your doctor. I would have answered the questions wrong twice if it had not been for my doc. One wrong answer and you can be denied coverage and financially ruined if you have a major claim.

Pacific Blue Cross has been the best for us.

Not sure about now, but in the past Johnson was run by RBC travel insurance, RBC also operated other plans for companies and they have a good staff of nurses to take calls from clients. You may want to research them

You got me curious so I checked out RBC. I received a quote of $5700.00 for 100 days coverage single trip for the two of us.
From Johnson we get single trip for $1400.00 and have have multi 40 day trips coverage for $5000000.00 coverage included in that price for the two of us.
I guess it's worth to be a member of the National Association of Federal Retirees for around $40.00 a year.
