How necessary is a pantry for fulltiming?

I am considering two different models. One, I love the floor plan, but no pantry. The other, I am not so crazy about the floor plan but it has a pantry.

How do you all feel about the pantry issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • We have a huge pantry and I love it. stores so much. I also love my floorplan tho.

The minute you buy a floorplan 'you are not so crazy about' you will be disappointed immediately.

I would not compromise the floorplan. You must get one you love. You could even store some canned goods in your truck if needed :) you can usually find places to put anything if needed, but a rv floorplan you love is priceless.
  • Our Jayco 5er has a smallish, narrow pantry next to the refrigerator. It's adaquate for weekend or several day trips...we travel with 2 kids. When on longer trips...we have a closet right across from the bunk beds that we fitted with shelved (removeable) that we can use for more dry foods storage if needed.
  • A pantry is for food storage....if you don't plan to store lots of food, then why worry about it.
I have always said that if you are going to buy an RV, you should get the most that you can afford, but the most important thing is that you should love it....or at least like it a lot, since you plan to be in it all the time!

You can probably store a weeks worth of food (depending on how you eat) in the cabinets that you have, and that may be enough for you....so don't worry about the pantry.
