Internet use

How do you connect to the internet without using the free wifi in campgrounds or having satellite?
Are libraries safe?
Please help!

Data does NOT take up your talk minutes. Data is data, whether it is being used by your phone or a hot spot it is still data.
Now if your implying that using your phone as a hot spot runs the battety down, then yes, that can be true. But thats what they make charge cords for.
  • Verizon has the Jetpack module and ATT has the Sierra module. I have both and both work about the same. ATT seems a little cheaper. That may be because I also have a ATT cell phone. Both of those modules can have passwords that are up to about 65 characters long. We also use these kodules for our home internet service.
  • I, too, use a Verizon Mifi... data only hotspot. It connects by cellular.

As for your library question... depends on your definition of "safe". Anytime you share a network with others prior to the router connection to the Internet, you are less "safe" than if you have your own connection. Personally, I NEVER do banking (for example) on anything less than my own (individual) connection.
  • We go thru our Smart Phone with Verizon but you can run out of minutes (sorry, meant data limit) if you use it for more than a few minutes per day. Streaming videos is a killer.
  • We use a Verizon jet pack (mifi). Perfect. We have the 20mb package at $100/month. Use it at home as well
