While folks living in an RV year-round consider that full timing, moving from the same site in the North to the same site in the South, I do not. If that's the plan you would be far better off buying 2 small homes in the N and the S and flying back and forth. If you are not going to return to the same place year after year you don't need a "home base".
agree!
to the OP....If you posted this in the 'Snowbird' location on this forum you would have tons of responses cause so many people snowbird, own property in different locations and do just what you are asking about!
MY personal definitions are a true full timer has no home base. Point blank. They are in their rv all the time owning no property to 'go home to' and that to me is the person with no ties to land.
Having a lot in the north and one in the south is what snowbird people do :) Snowbirds mostly own something, somewhere they call home base and then travel to better weather thru the seasons, maybe to another owned lot or just willy nilly around the hotter weather locations but travel home to their home base any time they desire.
of course no one truly has to be labeled :) but many like to have a sense of how they call full timing and snowbirding as a 'category' I guess.
When we full time in the near future we will have nothing, no home base, no home to come home to and will move as we love to move, stay as long as we want to stay and move on. Our home base is our rv and we will be full timing in it doing just that, living on the road as we wish.
In the future, yes we will stop full timing and buy a lot or house etc and maybe snowbird it or just take rv vacations after we come off the road and land in a home base.
But I can easily see us owning land or a townhome when way older and just vacationing in the rv to follow the nicer weather :) This will be our exit plan from full timing. We could easily own a lot in the more north and one coastal warm and do the snowbird thing!
When one exit's full timing there has to be that home base and then you can travel as you see fit and how your life falls at that point.
