  • While they are at it, just make being poor or homeless illegal. Problems solved.

Seriously though, this is not enforceable on the private citizen. My 5th wheel already has a sticker that says not for permanent living, but who would know. As long as I keep it registered and licensed as an RV there is no government entity sending out goons to knock on every RV door to check how long you have been living in your RV.

It may make RVs more expensive if manufacturers are forced to build them to additional required standards. That of course will be passed on to the consumer.

I'm thinking one of the reasons for this is that no property tax is collected from those full timers. Remember, the gov't is all about "taxes" & full timers pay no property tax, sewer tax, school tax, tax on water bills, tax on garbage pick up, replacing windows on your sticks & bricks requires a permit (a tax), rebuilding your porch, get a permit first (a tax) adding a garage for the RV, get a permit first (a tax) & the list goes on & on.......

My state collects tax on my motorhome every time I get new license plate tags and every time I fill it with gas, RV parks pay taxes, school tax, etc, so they are collecting taxes already, its more of a law for large property investors to keep all these apartments full..
Government does not like free thinking people to have fun and save money.

I think I DO pay all those taxes.

Whenever I pay for a nightly, weekly, or monthly space at an RV resort/CG, I know that some of that payment goes towards paying the taxes that are assessed against that property.

That would also be my guess. Maybe they'll come up with a tax on fulltime RVers?
The gov't has a lot of people collecting entitlements, someone must pay.
  • Government may say it is illegal, but how are they going to enforce it? The simple answer is just like they enforce other stupid laws! NOT AT ALL!!!!

  • That's our Gov. People live under bridges, in the bushes, or just out of shopping carts on park benches. Perhaps stickers should be placed on each of these types of locations that they are not appropriate for permanent residence. Today, there are many states that require a "residence" on the prescription to be kept on file at the pharmacy. A PO box is not a residence, and I have had to require patients to either give a home address, a family members address, or even their agents address for the record. However, there is an exception, the designation "homeless" can be used. This is how the government deals with housing regulations.
    The moral...Whatever. JMHO
  • Thanks. Oh, what a surprise that more unknowledgeable, petty bureaucrats with limited ability try and fail to solve non-existent problems by creating a manifold of new problems for people where they never existed prior. Will it ever end?
