Exactly........
Much ado about nothing - gatorcqExplorerThank you "Second Chance" it does seem, people will believe just about everything they read on the web, instead of researching it further.

Potatoe - Potato. All I'm saying is that part of the money I pay throughout the year for 'rent' goes towards paying state, federal, county, AND city taxes WHICH THEY WOULD NOT GET IF I DID NOT STAY THERE.
If 200 campers stay at Resort A in county A during a year, and 100 stay at Resort B in county B, then County A will collect twice as much tax revenue as County B, all other things being equal.
I pay part of the taxes assessed against the business property. His total taxes are not based on just his family's direct consumption. His total taxes are based on the amount of electricity and water consumed by that resort/cg. The resort/cg property taxes are based on the land value, etc. and I pay part of that. Part of my 'rent' pays water taxes, electricity taxes, sewer taxes, fire and police, etc. Taxes collected would be incrementally less if I did not choose to stay there.
Last year I stayed at a CG in Goodlettsville, TN. It's right next door to Nashville. Which city got taxes based on my stay of 1 week ?
Are homeowners the only ones who pay taxes ? Do the police and fire departments get funded totally by homeowners ? No. Do apartment dwellers pay city, county taxes ? Of course they do. Just not directly. But you can bet that part of their rent check goes towards everything that a homeowner is assessed for.
Full timers pay federal taxes. They pay fuel taxes (for a good time, just look where those taxes go or don't go). They may pay state income taxes. We pay sales tax everywhere we go. We buy hunting and fishing licenses.
Do you not think that the state of Florida gets a HUGE boost in income AND TAXES due to the annual snowbird migration ?
It is ridiculous to say I don't pay my fair share of just about ANY tax. - vic46ExplorerSo was fear of the camera the reason for the speaker wearing a sidearm? Not sure what message the sidearm sends or how to interpret the action.
- dahkotaExplorerWow. It is amazing how many people jump on the bandwagon of something they read or see on the internet without any further investigation.
Gopackgo and Second Chance have it correct.
This regulation is to insure that park model RVs are still considered RVs rather than manufactured housing. This rule does NOT MAKE IT ILLEGAL TO LIVE IN AN RV. In fact it says nothing to the legality of living in an RV. It is not about taxes. It is not about government control. It is all about building codes and nothing else. The RV industry (manufacturers) requested clarification because their RVs are getting big enough to be considered manufactured houses but don't meet the building codes of manufactured houses.

I'm thinking one of the reasons for this is that no property tax is collected from those full timers. Remember, the gov't is all about "taxes" & full timers pay no property tax, sewer tax, school tax, tax on water bills, tax on garbage pick up, replacing windows on your sticks & bricks requires a permit (a tax), rebuilding your porch, get a permit first (a tax) adding a garage for the RV, get a permit first (a tax) & the list goes on & on.......
I think I DO pay all those taxes.
Whenever I pay for a nightly, weekly, or monthly space at an RV resort/CG, I know that some of that payment goes towards paying the taxes that are assessed against that property.
You are paying HIS taxes for him but NOT your own taxes. - bob_nestorExplorer IIIWhen the laws become too much of a burden on normal, law abiding citizens they will start to ignore them and become criminals. There are many examples of this - Greek taxes, prohibition and unlicensed CB radios (when the had to be licensed) to name a few. Government can only push the population so far before they rebel either openly or thru civil disobedience and in either case it spells the end for the Government. It will either change to quell the the backlash or it will fail and fall.
I have a feeling many Governments in the West are very close to that tipping point right now. - ricklord2001ExplorerWe fulltimed for two years and ran into several problems. I had one credit card company cancel my card (didn't really want the card anyway) because we used one of the mail forwarding services. However my wife had the same card and never had an issue. Also one of her small investment accts got frozen until we closed on our house. (If we needed that money pretty sure we could of raised heck and gotten it). The Patriot Act requires a permanent address and all the services come up as commercial addresses. Currently I THINK companies just spot check and randomly in force it. But they could do it by financial information.
- Second_ChanceExplorer IIA bit behind the times... The initial rule was proposed in October, 2014. The issue was muddy language trying to differentiate the larger park model trailers from manufactured housing. During the latter half of February, the language was being cleaned up and a new rule constructed. According to the NRVDA, the new rule will resolve the issues and clarify the definitions of an RV vs. manufactured housing (and will restore park model trailers to RV status). The Excapees RV Club has been advocating for RVers and keeping its members informed on this issue. It's not time to hit the panic button.
