Need some insight on full timing at RV parks

I apologize if this has been asked and answered before. But I could not seem to find what I was looking for in the search.

My family and I began living in a TT exactly a year ago. But it has been on a relative's property. Since then we have learned alot about how to live this way. But I haven't camped at a campground since I was a kid.

We are looking to relocate, possibly to the Lake Cumberland (KY) area at one of the RV parks. Possibly to sign up for a year lease, since it is cheaper. (We are also pondering the idea of just buying the spot to make it even more cheaper)

And since we live in the camper all year, I am wondering how parks provide to full timers in the winter. Especially water and sewage. Where we are right now, I take out the water hose and connect to a freeze proof spout to fill our tank up. Then put the hose away. Especially during freezing temps. So getting water has never been an issue. But how does this work at RV parks in the winter? Do they just shut off the water?

I would appreciate any helpful insight on things we might expect or need to look for when sizing up these parks.

Thanks very much.

  • Hi,

Winter parks do turn off their water distribution network, but there is often a place to connect to fill up your tanks.

The same is true of the sewer system. It will be shut down--but a dump site will be available.

I use their bath house and washroom to cut down of trips to the dump site.
