I think it's highly unlikely that I will monetize it in the short term. But out of curiosity do I have to remove the link in the post, my signature or both?

Just remember....if you monetize your blog, you will be required to remove it and the link from RV. net.

If anything the responses have been blunt and honest... op there was a thread going around about the top 50 fulltime rv blogs, Google it and see how they keep it interesting.

I think the problem is automation doesn't lend itself to being interesting.

Higher resolution cameras are unlikely to add much. An old 1-megapixle phone will provide plenty of resolution for a picture on a computer screen. High resolution HD may actually work against you. One of your common sources of readers will be other travelers. They are often limited by the cell company data plans and won't download HD videos.

We blog (not so much recently) because we like to and it helps us to go back and recall the fun we've had. If people like, it great...if not, whatever. If that is your goal, do what you like and don't worry about it.

If your goal is to develop a following and possibly monetize it, it takes time and a degree of talent (writing more than technical).

Less is often more. If you are going to post frequently, a picture and paragraph is often better than 20 mintue video or 5 pages of text...unless it's a really interesting subject (there is always the exception).

Post consistently. I usually stop reading otherwise interesting blogs where one week they have 4-5 posts, then they go a month or more with nothing before another flurrie of postings.
- A weekly post can be a good compromise. It does take time and effort to post regularly. Don't miss out on the experience because you are so focused on documenting the experience.

The view straight down the road can so often be so bland, traffic, pavement, etc. In most of the southeastern US...travel on many highways are like driving through green gullies! Most of the time, as you probably already know, the best sights are off to each side. Many times you only see something great once you get off the Interstates highways, slow down and take time to stop often. Chose routes that go directly "into" rural areas instead a hurried way "through them". For example the worst way to see Nebraska is to go down I-80!

Your blogsite does seem to show you give interesting info so how much more interesting do you need to be? What you see is what there is!

Not everyone follows blog sites because there are so many of them! I could name over a dozen. We don't even bother going to them on a regular basis anymore. Life gets busy and it takes a lot of time to spend hours visiting blog sites! Blogs are for when there is nothing else to do...and seldom does that happen!

I suspect the live video feed doesn't get a lot of interest because unless you are doing a song and dance 24/7, seeing the view from your RV with nothing much going on, just isn't that interesting. Live webcam shots were cool 10yrs ago when they were a tech novelty.

Think of it like a book. Days of slogging along are usually summed up in a couple of paragraphs and short periods of excitement get chapters.

By the same token, select pictures or short video clips that people are likely to find interesting. Also make sure they are right on the same page as the blog. I rarely hop to a second page to see pictures when reading a blog and not many blogs are that well written that I keep up on them if there are no pictures.

Haha no worries there. I don't overdocument anything, typically the opposite problem. I have no pics of my recent clearance light leak repair, air dryer rebuild, etc.
