Park Model Question

We currently have a Holiday Rambler fifth wheel permanently parked on Chautauqua Lake in western NY.

We love our RV but we are retiring in 2016 (I hope) and we are looking to upgrade to a Park Model.

Our campground has about 50% rv's and 50% park models. Most Park models are either Breckenridge or Kropf.

I don't know if it is appropriate to discuss Park models on this RV forum, but I would love to hear from those who have actual knowledge in them.

Our RV has only been moved for a couple maintenance issues. I don't even own a tow vehicle. And I have no plan to buy one either. We love the Chautauqua area and I have no plans to leave. The size of a Park model is desirable when we are retired and we want to spend much more time at camp.

I have seen Athens and North Park manufacturers on the internet but I can't find any local dealers. Thanks to all who respond.

  • We bought a park model in Lake Havasu City. For us, it was the view that mattered + we really love the area and will spending winters here. However, we still have our RV which we'll use to travel the country the rest of the year.

We bought the park model, but lease the campground lot. However, if we could, I'd rather own the lot too.

Our Silvercrest is registered as an RV because it's built on a chassis and is under 400 square feet. It also has a large front porch which overlooks Lake Havasu. That sealed the deal.

We looked at other park models that had lofts, but we do not miss having a loft as most folks seem to use them for storage. If you get a model with a loft and plan to use it, you will probably want to install window air conditioners as lofts can get VERY hot.

Here are some park model entries from our blog:
