  • Joe I have the same deal you have now----homes in 2 states----registration where there is no annual personal property tax, emissions, or State inspection. My friend just transferred everything to Tenn. Said it was the best tax deal.
  • South Dakota, Texas, and Florida are best these days. Everyone in on the lookout for montana LLC's, don't even go there.

What you are really looking for as a full timer is a "domicile state". someplace to call home, when your home is on wheels.
You'll need / want to register to vote in your domicile state, get your drivers licenses there, and your license plates.
This is also where you will pay state taxes 8if they have any) and where your home as far as medicare or other health insurance is.
  • Not sure if you can do it any longer. They require a physical address. http://www.tn.gov/safety/driverlicense/dlproof.shtml
  • I live in ky right now and the insurance rates are out of this world.I would like to set my home base up in tn so when it comes time to renew my license I wont have to travel so far to do so.I currently have it registered in nc and will keep it their if I have to but would like to relocate to tn.Because every year I have to take it their to do a safty inspection.Other than that I have no problem leaving it their because my driver license are still in ky.Dont ask me how I done it but they let me get by with it.I told them I had two residents one in ky which I live and one in nc where the rv will be staying.I told the insurance company the same and they took down the nc address.
  • If you just need registration in any state call their DMV. They will tell you exactly what you need to do to register in their state. Most states requre that you be a resident of that state and have an address. There are a couple of organizations, one in Texas and one in SD that help full timers in those states set up residents and register. Sounds like you are trying to side step the rules. Certainly not recommended.
