First off live your dream. Only you know what your financial picture is. The salesman is wrong. My DW and I are full timers and we plan to finance our new fiver. Check with Good Sam, Alliant and Essex they all make competitive loans for full time folks. We will probably go with our credit union as the rate is very competitive. The payments are deductible the same as a mortgage loan. Educate yourself before you buy. The truck loan is not deductible. However there are some very low rates out there one from a credit union I saw was 1.74% and some manufactures off 0%. They all depend on your credit rating. Good luck and happy hunting.
