South Dakota possibly Texas domicile questions

Well it's happening. We are going to hit the road full time only returning to the sticks and bricks for short periods for doctor appointments and such.

I'm on Medicare and AARP supplement. Wife has medical through former employer that is portable nationwide. We are looking at SD residency. Can anybody point us to a website etc. that clearly outlines the requirements and steps necessary to make it happen.

If you've done the SD , I would like to hear the good and bad. How many days in state does it take? The last thing I want to do is drive to Florida to do the residency thing.

I might have a shot at Texas. I'm half owner with the sister in a one acre parcel in rural NE Texas. Don't think it has an address since it is not in a city limits and no utilities. I've got an attorney (my sis)looking into this.

Same questions for Texas residency. Internet resources, how long does it take in state, the good and bad, etc.

  • Another thought, if you have time go directly North from Spearfish and visit Roosevelt National Park in ND. That is a beautiful park.
  • Been with 'My Home Address' in Emery, SD for many years.
Went to SD once to get my drivers license there (flew in to Sioux Falls - stayed O'nite - got my DL the next day - then flew home that afternoon - now renew by mail.
Moho and Toad registration easy and done by MHA every year.
Totally happy with the services they provide - at a reasonable price.

  • We have toured most of SD. The most beautiful part is the Western section. You can see Spearfish Canyon, Deadwood, The Black Hills, The Bad Lands, and Custer State Park. Just outside Custer State Park you can see an original old sod house. Just outside Rapid City is Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy horse memorial. On the Eastern side you can visit Souix Falls and visit the falls. Like anywhere else, you can take as long as you want and always see something new. I would plan on a week to see the most beautiful parts of the state. That is my two cents and I pray you have a lot of safe fun.
