NEXUS - Passports - Enhanced Drivers license = Affected?

Just curious on the Mail forwarding/registrations etc, SD would be my choice, if there were any issues with the Govt - Homeland Security, on using them for Passport Residence?

I would guess in the way back when, it wouldn't, but nowadays??
Has anyone with the above had any problems in changing stuff over to the Mail service? or do they have requirements?

I live in a condo in Seattle, WA area, getting TC rig by end of year and will sell condo when market brings back the value to pay off VA loan. Once I get the camper rig, I'll be in it most if not all of the time cruising around.

So I was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with changing addresses with those items.

Thanks for any insight.. I don't really want to start messing around with them unless I have to.. NEXUS is great and I plan to hit Canada a lot.

Since becoming a fulltimer and changing my state residency to FL, I have not had any problems with residency issues. I use the address issued trough MYRVMAIL.COM mail forwarding service. It met the requirements for; voting, drivers license, and CCW permit.

You'll still have a "home" as a fulltimer, it'll just have wheels on it instead of being anchored in one place on the ground. You'll be "houseless", but certainly not "homeless". Read through the many posts on selecting a domicile state on this forum. The Escapees forum is also a great source of fulltiming information. There are very valid reasons for choosing your state, but those reasons need to fit your specific situation, making it hard for anyone else to tell you which state is best. Do your research, and remember that even if your situation changes later on, changing to another domicile state is really a lot easier as a fulltime RV'er than it is as a grounded house owner.

I am not fulltime yet but when I sell my house in NY and live full-time in my RV I will not have a "home" so I might as well establish residency where I see fit. I could use my brother's address, but is that real? No - I don't live there. But I will have to call some state home and I struggle with this as I get all my ducks in a row. I swear (besides lack of a state income tax) some full timers think that Texas is the only decent domicile because of the Escapee's mail service.

Also, as you mentioned, county of residence can be critical -- when I was a Wisconsin resident, I lived in Brown County which did not require annual vehicle emission testing. If I had lived in Milwaukee County, I would have to return to WI every year for testing.

Yes, but there's a workaround written right into the Patriot Act.

The anti-money laundering part of the Patriot Act (bottom of page 480 from above PDF) requires that banks and financial institutions develop a Customer Identification Programs that must include a customer's:

• Address -- this can be a street address, the address of a next of kin, or the address of a contact individual.
  

Jury duty is one reason Escapees works well, although I believe other forwarding services may work this way too. When DH and I get called for jury duty, we simply call the number on the card and tell them we are Escapees. After checking the summons number, they thank us and let us know we are excused. Easy.

I fulltime in WA. I rent a private mail box (PMB) at a parcel store in Aberdeen - Grays Harbor County, WA. My mail box is my domicile.

It is my address for:
voting
jury duty
taxes
auto/RV registration
auto/RV insurance
banking
yadda, yadda, yadda

Why Grays Harbor County? Several counties in WA require passing an emissions test in order to register the vehicle. Grays Harbor County does not require emissions testing.

You may choose a particular state for tax benefits or health benefits, etc - BUT where you choose to establish your domicile in that state may also affect you - vehicle registration fees, vehicle insurance rates, etc. Just moving, on paper, one county over can save you money. Also the next county over may be more RVer friendly than your first choice.

I don't need a mail service provider (like Escapees or Good Sam) to process my mail. I call my parcel store twice a month. They have a free mail-check service. They read the sender information to me. I tell them what to throw away, what to forward to me, and what to put back in my mailbox. None of my mail is critical enough for frequent forwarding. It can sit in my mailbox for a month or two.

A multi-state plan means that the contract verbiage and coverages are the same in two or more states. Has nothing to do with being covered in multiple states. Look for a PPO plan from a large insurer if you want nationwide coverage. A multi-state HMO plan will not do the trick. I know this because this is exactly what Indiana offered under ACA and what I had for three months until I moved to Arizona. Indiana did away with its PPO plans under ACA. My ACA Indiana policy was multi-state and you may incorrectly assume that it means coverage in multiple states, but it does not.

We could of traveled anywhere but ER coverage only. Other long term care is at their place only. So we're keeping our address for awhile

-----Another is some friends of ours that she (not him for some reason) has been called 3 times for jury duty in about 5 years. The place where they have residence has 3 court systems. Fed, county and city. They let her slide 2 times when they were out of state. On the third time they said "Show up".

Before we found out about our medical area of coverage the best place we thought was SD.
