At one time I calculated I needed to work until my late 60s to have enough money for retirement. Instead at age 64, we got rid of the house and took off fulltime in a truck camper. We toured the US and even with $4 fuel costs we saved a fortune over living in our old house. Your costs will be even less without travel and without any utility costs.
Buy a used RV and save the huge initial depreciation. Since you will be staying in one place, you could actually buy one that is old and needs work. You could fix it up and sell it for a profit or later on retire and enjoy the fulltimer's lifestyle and some travel.
