- TenOCNomadI am 76 and full timeing.
- restlesswindExplorerI'm 76, DW 75, we started our 9th year of full timing this month,We have decided that when we complete 10 years,we will start thinking about settling down in one place.Probably get a smaller trailer, but still travel some.
We have slowed down some the past couple of years, only did about 12,000 miles last year. No medical problems to speak of.
.That makes a huge difference,as some have said,we have seen "old people" that are not near our age and "young folks" that are older than us.
My advice...GO FOR IT! This life is not a rehearsal for the "real thing" this
IS the real thing! As far as we know,we only get one chance. - ventrmanExplorer

For the most part, is 73 too old to invest in and began full-time RVing?
I met a Couple in Camping World in Pooler, GA. They are Fulltimers. She is 82. He is well into his 90s. He is very active. So is she. I have seen much younger People who act much older. My Wife and I are Fulltimers, I am 65, She is 62. I say go for it. IMHO, If you don't and you want to. You will always regret it. - NoVa_RTExplorerThere are lots of ways to full-time, just as there are lots of ways to RV. Some folks move around the country more or less continuously, some stay in one place for weeks or months at a time, some do a bit of both. Some are looking to go to new places, some like to visit old favorites. If there is a full-timing lifestyle that appeals to the OP, he ought to give it a try.
It is worth remembering that a RV is a depreciating asset. If there comes a time when you need to stop full-timing, you want to make sure there will be funds available for a more traditional residence. - puertotommyExplorer73!? You're young! Can you drive? and get around your house? If so, get an RV and hit the road.
We're in our 30's, full timing now for 6yrs, and our only regret is that we didn't start sooner. Age is only a number, but time doesn't stop for anyone.
Please go for it! - galtgirlExplorerI too am starting late, but we aren't going to get any younger so we might as well do what we can while we can. I will be 68 and DH 65 when we will live and travel in our 5th wheel starting next spring. Yes, I read blogs about 50 year olds who are fulltime and doing all these adventure activities that I know we won't be able to do, but I am in remission from cancer and otherwise both of us are in good health. We certainly don't want to spend our retirement sitting at home in our recliners and staring at each other or the TV
- JAXFLExplorerToo old for full-time RVing well I think that you are too old when:
1- You foget where is was you were going with the RV
2- You don't remember that you own an RV
3- You can't find the RV in the campground
4- You park the RV in one campground and look for it in another
5- You cannot see the lines in the road any longer - Clay_LExplorerIt all depends.
I was 62 when we started full timing. When I was 70 and DW was 66 we had no intentions of stopping. However at 74 and 70 we are now settled down in a house we bought and the motor home is going up for sale.
It happened earlier than we planned but it is amazing how quickly things can change at our age. - CA_TravelerExplorer III

Medical availability is a concern.
I don't have an answer. I am 71, think about it, but really 10 yrs ago would have been a better time. I'm "healthy" yet have an artificial heart valve and pacemaker and concern about medical needs would be one of my doubts. We own a home and possibly full-timing for a few years might be a good way to transition into an apartment. I think it might have been better back when we felt more inclined to workamp quite a bit.
Perhaps don't drive the remote roads and towns to Alaska but otherwise you're never far from help. Sign up for a medical assistance plan. I have the Elks group Emergency Assistance Plan just in case. - RV_CONUSExplorerNon-negotiable.
