Where are the hookups?

Do you usually find the electrical & sewer hookups at the back, in the middle, or at the front of your site? Please indicate what type of park this applies to: state, private, KOA, TT etc. I know that the answer is variable. We are looking for where the most are located. Thanks!

  • I went to one park where the hookups for 2 sites (WE Only) were in the middle. That meant that it was on the wrong side for one person, who needed extra long everything. But no worries, the camp store sold 30 amp extension cords at a premium.
  • Somewhere near the back left side in most cases, and 2 or three feet too far away where you need an extension cord and longer water hose.
  • I have found some older parks that were built catering to TTs to have hookups more towards the rear.

  • I can go 25 feet of sewer, 50 feet electrical and 50 feet water. So I base my parking location off of the sewer hookup. Most are somewhat together near the middle to rear drivers side. Some are here or there. Have never seen two campgrounds exactly the same.
  • Considering all of the private campgrounds I have been to, the usual location of hookups is on the driver's side, near to the middle of the trailer.

  • We find hook ups from middle to rear. Water at rear, Elec in middle. Elec at rear, water in front. A couple weeks ago, Elec at Passenger side rear, Sewer dump on Driver side middle. In short, they are all over the place, but most often at least they are all on the driver side.
  • Hookups can be found anywhere. They're not consistently positioned at all. Not at KOAs, not at state/provincial parks, not at RV resorts.
  • Sometimes there somewhere and a lot of the time they are someplace else. Almost always one the drivers side but not always.
  • They are usually placed so that the left, (driver's side) of the RV will line up with the hookups. IMO, the sites are set up so that there is room for awnings, etc if everyone is lined up the same way. Having cords and hoses pose a tripping hazard and should be as out of the way as possible, (opposite side of RV entrance way).
  • Yup!
That pretty much sums up where they might be located based on what site you get into.
