This isn't a bad idea. If you want out of there by the time summer is over, this might be your only option.

may I apply a little logic? I am sure you are not going to just walk away from your RV if the warranty company says they wont fix it, and I am sure the shop is not going to repair it without some assurance that they will get paid, so why not just authorize the repairs, take pictures, collect all parts and names and phone numbers and go home. at some point your living costs are going to exceed the repair costs and the warranty co. is not going to reimburse you for the living expenses.

I really believe it's a little of both. I think it's called mis-communication.

I am assuming you know better than that, if you run your engine without ever changing the oil do you expect a warranty company to pay to fix it? every manufacturer that provides a warranty wants to know what caused a failure before they will pay to fix it. As far as timing unless your contract has a time for inspection or repair, than its pretty much up to them to decide what is reasonable.

That's true, they can milk it out as long as they want. I am thinking the rear end has already shown to have gear oil in it and you can tell if it was contaminated by pulling the plug. Anything else is A part failure. Rear ends are not rocket science. Simple!

agreed but you can still destroy a rear by neglect and towing things too heavy for your vehicle tow rating, in either case I would just have to weigh my financial options before extending my stay for an extraordinary period in a location I was ready to leave, fix the rear and fight it out at home

Just for grins, how long did it take before the shop broke it down for the inspector? I know when I used mine the last time, the shop received a fax and an email telling them they needed to disassemble the item so they could inspect the failed part. 2 weeks later, and the shop had not done it. It was not a CW, but I have found the longest delays are usually the shop doing the work, they drag their feet, and feel insulted that someone is going to come in and verify they know what they are doing. Once they tear it down the inspector should be able to authorize it on the spot. Which leads to problem #2, the shop will drag their feet because they have it apart, but find they will get paid the low end of the rate scale, so yours end up in the back of the shop while the full price folks move ahead first. If I were broke down, I would ask the Service Manager what the difference is between the their going rate, and what they are getting paid, and tell him you will make up the difference. My guess is you will shorten the amount of time you will be in a hotel.
