Assistance was helpful
We have had Good Sam Roadside Assistance for several years but never needed to use it. Then on Dec 8, 2017, our tow vehicle quit running several miles south of Knoxville, TN at about 4 PM on a Friday night.
We called for assistance. It took about an hour for the first tow truck to show up. But it did not have the proper equipment to tow our rig. So that call was canceled and another tow truck was called. It took quite a while for the second tow truck to show up due to the time of day and other commitments that he had. But that tow operator was very helpful. We asked him if there was an RV park nearby. He said yes. He towed our trailer to that RV park instead of down town to the big Chevrolet dealership where the Assistance operator was going to send us. We were then able to stay in our trailer instead of having to find a motel. With our permission, he then took our tow vehicle to his own shop nearby and repaired it there. All in all it turned out much better that way just because we asked him about an RV park. My advice is don't depend exclusively on the Roadside Assistance people. Use your own head and ask questions to try and get the best outcome for your situation. The response to our breakdown was a bit slow but I think they did the best they could with what was available in the area.
