They all have their positives and negatives. I have found that none are perfect.
AAA - will tow you where you want to go; this means they will come out to you as soon as possible.
GS/CN - will tow you to the closest approved shop on their list that answers their phone and agrees to take your rig. This means the tow truck won't arrive until a shop has been found.
The difference with these is that if you break down after normal shop hours, holidays, etc, GS/CN can have you waiting for hours because they can't get a hold of a shop. If you break down out of your known area, AAA expects you to find the shop - they just take you to where you go.
Because of this, I have found that the extra cost of having AAA and GS/CN gives me better results - I pick the service that will best meet the circumstances.
GS will also take you after hours to a local shop they have on their list. I did this a year ago. They picked up my truck and transported it to the closest shop where I put the keys in the night box. Next day got a call from the shop and got it taken care of.
That happens when they have a contract with a shop that offers after hours drop-offs. It's not a guarantee - if there is no shop on contract offering the drop off, you can spend a day or more waiting to get a tow to a shop.
None are perfect - none are useless. For me, having a combination gives me the best results.
