Here is my update. I CANCELLED my Good Sam Insurance policy that was underwritten by National General. To clarify my initial post, we were going to sell our current RV with plans to upgrade. Camping World offers the option of consigning your unit for sale. They handle the entire sale while your unit is in their secured sales lot after they do their own pre-service and inspection of the unit. National General prohibits your unit going back to Camping World for consignment sale, and upon inquiring as to such, they issued me a non-renewal letter via the mail 3 business days after I inquired on the phone. So much for the "Premeire Business Relationship" between Camping World who provided us an Elite Good Sam membership and helped arrange insurance through Good Sam for our RV we bought New from them, and then tried to upgrade by Consigning it back to Camping World.
But what really put me off was the manager I ended up speaking with at National General. She cared little about the customer, and was only interested in defending their customer service area. She apparently forgot it is the paying customer who keeps them in business, not their co-workers she was trying to defend over the non-renewal letter being issued.
I also spoke with the Director of Insurance for Good Sam who was courteous, but basically completely useless in trying to resolve an issue that seems to effect Camping World more than me. Seems his job is just sitting at a desk fielding calls sent up the ladder to say "Nothing I can do, sorry. But please be sure to renew your membership to help keep us employed".
The point being Camping World has hundreds, maybe thousands of RV's on consignment nationwide, and unknown to the Camping World management, the Good Sam Insurance declaration pages they require a consignment customer to provide in order to enter into a consignment contract is completely useless becuase Good Sam Insurance (National General) not only does not cover vehicles in consignment, when they find out that a vehicle is either going to be, or is already in consignment, they CANCEL those policies with Non-Renewals leaving those customers without insurance and the smear of having had a policy cancelled which *may* effect your rates thereafter with other carriers.
Good Sam Insured members - BEWARE of National General!
And, I won't be renewing our Good Sam membership either due to the lack of effort to help resolve this problem and allowing National General to mistreat their member(s) by happily taking payments, and then issuing "gotcha" non-renewal" letters. Customer Service? Not even remotely.
