Beware of Good Sam Auto Insurance

I purchased Good Sam Insurance for my car, truck and RV 6 months ago It was a good rate so I changed from Geico. My renewal has come up and my rate has increased by $100.00. I've made no claims and my vehicles have all depreciated for the 6 months so why has my rate gone up? I called and I was informed that the rate in TX have gone up do to amount of claims. I asked, if I had a claim my rate would have gone up and was told yes.So my rate went up not because I'm a careful driver but because other people made claims and I get to help pay for theirs even though my vehicles have depreciated for 6 months and the Insurance Co. exposure is less.

All this tells me that when you buy Ins. expect a low rate to get you in and then start jacking up the rate each renewal date.

  • Dave,

Today most carriers do not underwrite each policy at renewal for rate increases. They are put together based on classifications. If a company has an increase in losses for class A motorhomes everyone with a class A motorhome gets an increase no matter how long they have been with the company. Insured's with violations or losses will get larger increases. At Good Sam Insurance Agency we don't have control over the rates that any of our carriers take or when they take them. What we can do for you is check with one of our other carriers to see if we can get you the same coverage at a better rate. Many carriers that write auto and RV policies are taking rate increases to offset the increase in claims that they are experiencing. Please send Stacy your information and we can have an agent call you to see what other options we have for you. Keith Petrick - Director of Good Sam Insurance Agency

I believe this happens in more industries than just insurance. Cable TV, Internet services, satellite television, shoot!!!! even your electric bill!

Cheater prices to suck you in and then .... WATCH OUT ... Don't get me going on DirectTV, DishTV, or Hughes.net! It ain't pretty!
  • Remember someone has to pay for all the uninsured motorists in Texas. Our rate seemed to go up every time we were involved in an accident, even though it was not our fault. They did not have insurance or one of the fly by night insurance companies. Every one is also sue happy.
  • Welcome to the world of insurance. That's the way it works. It's a legal license to steal.
  • You were counting on others to pay for your mishaps that is what insurance is. I haven't had a claim since 1980. Just think how many yahoos my premiums have taken care of and my rates continue to increase.
