Several years ago, I bought the GS/CW "lifetime membership" because I qualified for a discount and I figured that the price was worth it. Today, while at a Camping World (trying to use up gift cards that I had been given), the overly pushy cashier wanted to sell me 2 more years of membership. I told her that I had a lifetime membership and even showed her my card stating that fact.I was then informed that when I purchased a camper from them 2 years ago that the "elite" membership that I was "gifted" with overwrote my lifetime membership and that my membership will now expire this year and that I will start having to pay by the year again.Once again, we have an excellent example of how Camping World fails to live up to its obligations and stabs their customers in the back.

Now that is just NOT RIGHT. If you buy an rv from them and already have a lifetime they ought to give you " lifetime elite" and not screw you. Tell them to refund the lifetime then.

It's not a scam. They can only see the elite membership and not the lifetime. They tell me the same thing all the time. I tell them that I am a lifetime member.

Once again lack of proper training raises it's ugly head........How can a 'lifetime membership' expire when the member is still alive :S

The sales associate was incorrect. At the end of your Elite membership you go back to regular Life membership. No big deal, just a mistaken sales associate.

Same goes for the replacement of the highways magazine. Said you needed to opt for a travel trailer or RV mag and they would include a membership insert. Have not renewed my membership after never receiving the offered magazine These last two years

This is not a one-off event. This sort of activity is SOP for Camping World. Your "Opppppssss! She s/he just had the wrong information" songs and dances are starting to get stretched pretty thin. How long does Camping World think that it can keep flogging such excuses?
I deal with retail customers on a daily basis. The real scam are those who use an honest mistake/mis-information situation to curry favor or freebies from an establishment.

It must be difficult approaching life as if someone is always out to screw you. I feel sorry for folks that live like that. Hopefully your attitude will change and you'll be blessed with the knowledge that most businesses want to treat you honestly even when mistakes happen as they always will regardless of how well the business is run.

CW has training issues, it is not a scam. CW is a large company suffering from fast growth and consolidation/standardization issues. If they get them straightened out they will enjoy many more years of growth and profits, if not they will go down the long road of decline that so many other companies who fail to address problems have.
