After paying for Good Sam Roadside Assistance for several years and not having to use it, I will admit it was a good investment. Just the peace of mind knowing that if something would occur, GS would be there to help me and my family was worth the cost.But........When I experienced a tire blow-out on my Motorhome while driving down the interstate in Maryland on 7/01/17 I realized it was a complete waste of money!* The first call resulted in a "We'll need to call you back"* The second call (return call) resulted in "It will be 4 hours before help arrives" - sorry to leave you and your family stranded on a Saturday morning"* Last return call(an hour later) "My Supervisor said to Call 911 for help" (changing a tire?) seems we.ve heard these stories before ,wonder what the rest of the story is? there must be more,

Wow and my Good Sam road side assistance is due in August, should I use Good Sam or someone else. Been a lot of complaints simalar to the OPer, waiting 2 days for service, however I carry a full spare and can do my own flat repair so I don't have to worry about that part.

I suppose we're lucky the op didn't mention the tire age and brand.Please don't

Good Sam roadside service strikes again. Anyone thinking of buying their service or renewing should think long and hard before committing.

It makes NO difference in this discussion, BUt, it would have made the thread 20 pages longer with all the tire discussions thrown in.

The Care Team always asks for a PM but never does anything to defend themselves. I am sure some calls are mishandled but how many are handled properly?
Maybe the Care Team should not just issue an automatic response to complaints
here, and do a better job of clearing them up.

You make a good point; however, how many complaints do you hear about Coachnet in comparison to Good Sam. That is the real indicator. Both services handle many calls successfully, but how many get screwed up?

To borrow another posters expression. Roadside assistance is not like ordering hamburgers at the drive through. It will never be foolproof or without delay 100% of the time.

Guess how the priority works?

1. Highway Patrol request to resolve a hazard. (911)
2. Cash customer at retail.
3. Negotiated low price bid from roadside assistance.

This is really about speed and waiting four hours minimum.

What I'm seeing complaints are usually from problems happening on weekends. I know that's not an excuse, but the contract companies may not be a cooperative during those times leaving the roadside service companies and customers in a bad spot. But if the contract providers charge higher prices, etc on weekends, ALL roadside assistance companies need to suck it up and get the paying customers taken care of ASAP.

This has not been my experience at all - I have not had to call for any of my campers but I have had to call for my other cars. I have gotten great service each of the times - at least 3. I will keep my subscription going.

We were traveling with another couple when WE broke down, now We did not have the Good Sam road service but the other couple did, they called and Good Sam service was able to find us a tow company to call and tow our class 8 tractor and 5th wheel but on our cost, but they still helped us. We now carry the Good Sam road service also.
