Certificate not honored by Good Sam.

So, in todays mail I received my 'Good for one nights Camping' Certificate back, and a letter saying the campground was not a Good Sam CG.

That ridiculous 5-inch thick book I have to haul around has the park listed in it. When I double checked online, it was listed, the park had more Good Sam 'stuff' hanging all over than was normal. I did get my discount at the park, and even a free night because there was an error in the reservations, and they needed to ask us to move to another site. (they were so upset about it, I couldn't get mad).

So, I decided to go back online to see about this park, and now it is not listed! Huh? They did send the certificate back to be used at another park at least.

But this is what concerns me. In the 4 months we have been a GSM, I am getting a sense of serious disconnect in the whole Camping World organization. I have encountered service issues that I would have terminated people over in my career, and just a lack of caring.

More disconnect: In todays mail as well, was a packet selling me on/trying to get me to join GS Roadside, GS Warranty, Travel Assist. I ALREADY HAVE THESE SERVICES! GS is wasting monies sending this advertising stuff to members that already have the services. Nothing in this is geared towards extension of services - it's all about getting new members signed up.

So I have my certifiacte back to re-use, so I guess I will give it another try. Thaks for letting me vent...lol

Question: why did you get a good Sam discount if they aren't a good Sam park?
Any park can offer any discount they want. No different than taking Home Depot's ad into Lowes and getting that sale price. As for the park displaying Good Sam logos and not being a Good Sam park, the Good Sam enforcement arm isn't exactly as strong as Tony Soprano's crew. I doubt they could even give them a noticeable slap on the wrist if they actually tried to punish a park for claiming to still be a Good Sam Park after they dropped the marketing affiliation.

The staff at the park were so nice and helpfull. I honestly do not even think they know they are not GS listed. We were going to this park anyway because it was near where we needed to be, and is not PPA. GS is our fallback.

One of the benefits for being listed in GS, PPA and others, is the exposure and marketing they get, and this park may believe they are getting the exposure, and are not.

    Hello paulsang,

Thank you for your Post. If you wouldn't mind sending me a PM with the Park information so I can check into that issue for you. Also I have set your account to not send additional advertising mail as well. Please allow up to 4 weeks for that to stop as some mail is prepared in advance of it being sent.

Last 2 years full timing I have come across a lot of CG's sporting the logo and after you pull in they wait until they've swiped your card that they regretfully hate to tell you that they no longer are a Good Sam CG. Wonder why so many long time GS CG's are dropping their GS affiliation?
