GoodSamCS@GoodSamFamily.com - Larry_1190ExplorerThanks Adam, I read that post twice, I guess I just couldn't grasp on to the idea of traveling without a (ready to go) spare for my truck and camper. Last year I had a blowout on I95 North of Richmond Va. and I changed it myself which prompted me to go with you guys, that's why I questioned this $130.00 fee he was charged.
Thanks again for clearing this up.. - Good_Sam_Care_TExplorerHello Larry 1190,
The OP was talking about having a tire mounted to a rim. Having a "ready to go" spare tire to put on is paid for by Good Sam Roadside Assistance.
I hope this helps,

GoodSamCS@GoodSamFamily.com - Larry_1190ExplorerAm I reading this right?? If I have a flat and I also have a spare tire already mounted, and I call GS Roadside Assistance and they send a service provider I have to pay them $130.00 to change my tire??
- UsualSuspectExplorerThe Tire Shop has everything bolted to the floor and mount more than 1 tire at a time, probably hundreds a day. The service coming out to you does probably a few a day, and somedays probably does not do any at all. I would image the $130 is the minimum labor rate, which is also paying for all the equipment they might use more than once or twice a day. I find $130 to be reasonable considering they are bringing the tire shop to me.
- LantleyNomadIf you are on the side of the road with a flat it is no time to be bargain shopping for tire install. If you want it install economically go to a tire shop.
However if you are unfortunate enough to have a flat and the tire shop needs to come to you. The you will have to pay the rate.
Now your third option is to get rid of the road side assistance plan. However when you get a flat who are you going to call? What are they going to charge?
I prefer to have roadside assistance and understand I may have to oay extra charges for extra services - PuddlesExplorer

So GS Road Service pays the tire changer both ways to come to wherever you are... The tire changer is charging $130 for the same service the op gets at his local store for $35... if my interpretation of this post this correct... GS should find another service provider in that area. - wbwoodExplorerAnd it's not GS road service charging you a $130. It's the service that comes to you that charges that amount.

My ERS is not Good Sam but they should charge you by the year not each time they change a tire if you have the tire.
GS does charge a yearly fee. That fee pays for the service call, but not parts or labor as mentioned above. They would lose money if they paid to have the tire changed. The above mentioned cost is more than the yearly premium is. - K_CharlesExplorerMy ERS is not Good Sam but they should charge you by the year not each time they change a tire if you have the tire.
