Christmas gift from Good Sam ERS
We weren't towing, just headed for central Texas on Christmas Eve to see the grandkids on Christmas. We made it as far as the north side of Houston when the check engine light came on and we started blowing fog like the mosquito man. We took the first exit and made it off the road into a parking lot.
A call to Good Sam had a wrecker there in Less than thirty minutes!
The first place he took us - an NTW - had tire changers working, but no mechanics, so he hauled across the freeway to a Dodge dealer. Their service dept was open, but closing, and they suggested the Firestone dealer next door. Firestone worked on the truck and diagnosed a blown high-pressure fuel line, but said it was something they were not equipped to fix and that we should take it back to the Dodge dealer.
I called Good Sam back, and the lady I spoke to first asked why we hadn't called back when the FIRST place couldn't fix it. I explained that all three were within sight of each other so the wrecker driver said it wasn't necessary. She put me on hold for just a minute, then agreed to tow the truck back to the Dodge place at no charge.
I wish I had got her name so I could give her a personal attaboy, but thanks to Good Sam ERS our Christmas was saved.
