$50 Christmas Gift

One possibility that comes to my mind is a nice steering wheel cover, such as a Wheelskins. I'm often surprised at how uncomfortable many factory steering wheels feel to the hands, given that it's the one part of the vehicle you're constantly touching when driving. (Wheelskins are nice quality and they'll custom make one up to measure for any size in a bunch of different colors. I'm sure there are other companies making decent wheel covers, too.)

True that. Every year for almost the past 20 years I've contributed to PBS in the name of my paternal grandparents. Seems like a fitting tribute to people who valued universal knowledge so much :C.

Battery Tenders have always been a welcome gift. Great for use on the RV or at home. Most guys seem to overlook purchasing one for themselves for some reason and the guy who already has one doesn't seem to mind having another added to the arsenal.

That's a shade over $200,000,000, hardly enough to finance the entire network, staff, and buy (commercial free) programming. He!!, the power bill alone on just one of my transmitter plants hovers around $36k/mo. If you think you deserve free and open access to anything that says PBS, you better start looking for more foundation grants because the government has been threatening to defund PBS for years.

Learn about PBS "Passport". The article explains how streaming older episodes is limited to contributors. If, for example, I missed episodes 5 & 6 of "Poldark", which I did, I cannot catch up because I am no longer a PBS contributor. I've been a contributor in the past & considered it money well-spent but I don't care for their new hijack tactics. If you guys know of a way around it, please enlighten me? My sister, who is more timely & diligent than I, is growing weary of tutoring me when I miss episodes.

The government (we) granted PBS 8 billion dollars between 1969 & 2005. I don't know what the newer statistic looks like? The point is.. I support PBS already vis-a-vis my tax dollars. Now, if they want to change their name to "Private Broadcasting Service" and return my tax dollars, I won't be so offended by their distinction between me and card-carrying contributors.

My post makes it sound like I don't value PBS. I really do. And I may break down & contribute, once again. But I reserve the right to pout a little while before I do. It's my own little protest to their strong-arm tactics.

BTW, I have DISH, Apple TV & Roku. The new pricing model seems consistent across all three platforms. And, yeah, it's free to capture whatever they beam into my backyard, but that doesn't help with catching up on episodes older than 2 weeks.
