Considering ESP vs. Extended Warranty

Would appreciate any opinions...

We have a 2013 Jayco Seneca 37FS with 3,600 miles on it. This will be our 2nd season and we are approaching our 1 year anniversary of taking delivery.

I am considering extending the warranty just because of all the technology and components on this rig.

I have the following quotes:
From dealer: Preserve Extended Warranty: $4,750 for 5 years. $200 deductible except for at their dealer stores (where there would be no deductible)

From GoodSam ESP: 6 year, $3,883 with $250 deductible. No tire coverage at this price. paying annually.

Questions:
1. any big difference on ESP vs. traditional warranty?
2. Anyone have experience getting the tire coverage? On a new rig, should I have problems within the first 5 years or 50,000 miles?
3. Any other general comments or recommendations?
4. Any experience with deductible limits? I confirmed with the dealer that the deductible is on a per component basis, not per service all or trip. (unless I take it to them, and it is free)

Thank fellow RVers.

  • Read the exclusions/limitations/what is NOT covered...then save your money
  • Read the fine print. Now read it again with a magnifying glass. After one more reading you will decide to keep your cash. Open a new checking account and call it "future 'repairs". You will be money ahead.
  • Read the contract and see if one or both are "exclusionary". This is a lot better than "parts named". Now see if "consequential damage" clause is mentioned. This is good. If not mentioned, toss the contract.

A tire coverage extra will come in handy if your sidewall blows out or tread area cannot be repaired. Rim or wheel damage will be covered. Be sure that anyone who gives you a new tire.....keeps the old one or gives it to you.....so it can be checked out by someone.

Now do a "search" on this subject if you need more info.
